My first NHS job

MY FIRST JOB IN UK: 1) Start time March 2016. 2) I had a week of unpaid clinical attachment before starting the post formally followed by almost 3 weeks pf shadowing. 3) I did that job for 5 months from March-July 2016. It was difficult for me as I was out of practice for 2 years and was in new system. I gave extra time to sharpen my clinical skills like cannulation, venepuncture, and catheterization and so on. This helped me in building up my confidence. However, I still felt deficient in many fields on which I focussed later on and improved my weaker areas. TIPS: ·          Be persistent, patient, study on daily basis the clinical queries you come across daily. Never hesitate to ask questions. ·          Remember you can never be the best right from the start. It takes time. ·          Find good seniors/colleagues and stick with them out of hours and...

My Job history

MY NHS JOB HISTORY 1) Breast Surgery-junior clinical fellow-unsuccessful 2) O&G-senior clinical fellow-unsuccessful (I have only 1 year O&G experience in Pakistan) 3) General Surgery @Maidstone and TWH, Kent.-Junior clinical fellow- successful. 4) O&G @ Swansea Hospital- Successful- I did not join as I already accepted No 3 post. INTERVIEW LAYOUT FOR ALL OF MY INTERVIEWS : 1)       Two clinical scenarios – irrespective of underlying cause and differentials- follow ABCDE approach- That is what they are looking for. 2)       One ethical scenario. 2 of them I remember- what will you do if a patient complains you regarding your colleague’s rude behaviour (apologize), What will you do if your colleague is late on regular basis (SPIES structure-seek info, patient safety, initiate, escalate and support). 3)       What is audit, audit cycle and difference between audit and research? 4) ...

Preparation time: Varies depending on you yourself. (Some manage to do it in a month or less). I spent almost 2 months and did not take any course at any academy. About My exam (Nov 2014) Almost 50% were repeated (but in some mcqs statements & options were somewhat slightly different) PLAB 2 : Study material : swamy notes and dr.hameds notes.
